Signing the partnership
Ghitha Holding has signed an agreement with H&N International, one of the world’s leading layer breeding companies, to set up local production and distribution capabilities for H&N layer breeding stock.
This will support egg production across the UAE and the wider GCC.
Under the partnership, the group’s subsidiary, Al Ain Farms, will establish local capabilities for the production of H&N layer parent stock, the breeding birds that produce commercial laying hens, and day-old commercial layer chicks, as part of Ghitha’s broader poultry sourcing and production strategy.
The benefit of the project will be utilised by all Ghitha’s layer sites (Al Ain Farms, Al Jazira, and Arabian Farms) as well as the local farms and wider GCC market. The project is expected to be the first in the UAE dedicated to layer parent stock production, strengthening local poultry production capabilities and reducing reliance on imports.
Integration across the poultry value chain
The collaboration will combine Ghitha’s local and regional capabilities with H&N’s international breeding expertise and technology, supporting greater integration across the poultry value chain and strengthening access to high-quality H&N layer breeding for producers across the region.
Falal Ameen, CEO of Ghitha Holding, said: “The partnership with H&N International marks an important step in strengthening our integrated food and agriculture platform and advancing the localisation of poultry production capabilities in the UAE.
“By establishing local production of H&N layer parent stock alongside our existing poultry sourcing network, we are strengthening supply-chain resilience and reducing reliance on imports, while bringing international breeding expertise and technology closer to producers in the region.
“The collaboration will also expand our ability to serve customers across the UAE and the wider GCC, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the UAE’s food security objectives and building a more resilient and integrated regional food ecosystem.”
Expanding H&N’s presence in UAE
Xabier Arbe Ugalde, Managing Director, H&N International, said: “Our partnership with Ghitha Holding represents an important milestone in expanding H&N’s presence in the UAE and wider GCC region. Establishing local parent stock production will help strengthen the reliability and efficiency of regional supply chains, while supporting the continued development of a more resilient and self-sufficient poultry industry. We look forward to working closely with Ghitha to advance local breeding capabilities and contribute to the region’s long-term food security ambitions.”—TradeArabia News Service
