Jindong backs Abu Dhabi’s logistics push

Jingdong Property and Kezad: reaching a key milestone in their growth strategy

With global supply chains evolving and demanding faster, smarter logistics, Abu Dhabi is continuing to attract international players seeking a foothold at the crossroads of global trade. The latest vote of confidence comes from Jindong Property, the infrastructure investment and asset management arm of JD.com, which has partnered with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD Group) to develop a major logistics facility in KEZAD Area A.

Spanning approximately 150,000 sq m and scheduled for completion in 2028, the project reflects the growing importance of the UAE as a regional distribution gateway connecting Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Designed for the Next Generation of Supply Chains

More than simply adding warehousing capacity, the development is designed to support the next generation of supply chains through advanced logistics infrastructure, intelligent operations and digital technologies.

The facility will provide premium warehousing solutions for both local and international businesses, helping streamline the movement of goods across regional and global markets. Smart automation systems, digital operational platforms and flexible development models will form the backbone of the project, enabling customers to respond more effectively to rapidly changing market demands.

For Jindong Property, the development aligns with its expertise in high-quality warehousing, intelligent operations and green building practices, while extending its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing logistics corridors.

Strengthening Abu Dhabi’s Position as a Trade Hub

For Abu Dhabi, the investment supports its wider strategy of strengthening its position as a global logistics and industrial centre. Located within one of the region’s largest integrated economic zones, the facility is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency while supporting broader economic diversification efforts.

“The establishment of this advanced logistics facility reflects the growing confidence of international investors in Abu Dhabi’s economic ecosystem and highlights the pivotal role played by KEZAD in driving industrial growth through its economic zones,” said Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of KEZAD Group.

He added: “Our agreement with Jindong Property will enhance KEZAD’s logistics capabilities, further cementing its position as a gateway for regional and global trade, while advancing economic diversification, industrial expansion and sustainable development.”

Economic Impact Beyond Warehousing

Beyond infrastructure, the project is expected to deliver a meaningful economic contribution. Once operational, it is projected to create around 1,000 direct jobs across logistics, distribution and administration, while generating additional opportunities across manufacturing, retail, transportation and support services.

The construction phase will also create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity, extending the benefits of the development well beyond its operational footprint.

A Milestone in Regional Expansion

For Jindong Property, the agreement represents a key milestone in its Middle East growth strategy.

“This milestone logistics facility in KEZAD represents a critical step in Jindong Property’s UAE expansion strategy,” said Feng Guo, CEO of JD.com Middle East.

“By leveraging KEZAD’s strategic location and world-class infrastructure, the facility will deliver seamless multimodal logistics solutions tailored to the demands of fast-moving supply chains. We are thrilled to be contributing to the UAE’s continued growth as a global trade hub while deepening our footprint in Abu Dhabi.”

Part of a Bigger Global Logistics Network

The project is also indicative of the growing role of international logistics and e-commerce-driven infrastructure investment in the Gulf. Jindong Property currently manages more than 300 infrastructure assets globally, covering over 28 million sq m of gross floor area and more than $16 billion in assets under management.

The company specialises in the investment, development and operation of green logistics parks, business parks and data centres, serving customers across e-commerce, third-party logistics, manufacturing, retail and other emerging sectors.

Looking Ahead

As competition for global supply chain investment intensifies, developments such as the KEZAD project highlight Abu Dhabi’s continued success in attracting international capital, technology and industrial expertise. By combining strategic geography with world-class infrastructure, the emirate is further strengthening its role as a critical gateway connecting regional and global trade flows.
