PIF has continued to strengthen its international presence, increasing overseas investments by 12 per cent during 2025.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) closed out its 2021-2025 strategic cycle with a strong financial performance, underscoring the increasingly central role the sovereign wealth fund is playing in reshaping the Kingdom’s industrial and economic landscape.

The fund reported net profit of $17 billion for 2025, more than double the previous year’s figure, while revenue rose 9 per cent to $120 billion. Assets under management remained above $900 billion, highlighting the scale of PIF’s influence as both a global investor and a key driver of Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification agenda.

While stronger dividends from portfolio companies and improved returns from financial investments boosted performance, the results also point to the growing contribution of PIF-backed companies and projects to the Kingdom’s non-oil economy.

Between 2021 and 2025, PIF deployed more than $199 billion into the domestic economy, supporting the development of industries ranging from advanced manufacturing and logistics to technology, tourism and renewable energy. Its contribution accounted for 11 per cent of Saudi Arabia’s non-oil GDP in 2025, with cumulative economic impact exceeding $342 billion over the five-year period.

The figures reinforce PIF’s position as one of the primary engines behind Vision 2030, helping to create new industries, attract investment and develop competitive economic sectors beyond oil.

Industrial Ecosystems

A key theme emerging from the fund’s latest results is its growing focus on building interconnected industrial ecosystems rather than making standalone investments.

As it enters its 2026-2030 strategic phase, PIF plans to focus on six integrated domestic ecosystems designed to strengthen industrial competitiveness, create synergies between sectors and accelerate long-term value creation.

Expanding Global Reach

Alongside its domestic investments, PIF continued to strengthen its international presence, increasing overseas investments by 12 per cent during 2025.

New offices in Paris, Beijing and Shanghai expanded the fund’s footprint across Europe and Asia, complementing existing operations in London, New York and Hong Kong. The expansion supports PIF’s strategy of accessing global expertise, technologies and investment opportunities while channeling knowledge and capital back into Saudi Arabia.

The fund also deepened partnerships with major international financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Macquarie Asset Management and Italy’s SACE, reinforcing its ability to attract investment into the Kingdom and support large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects.

AI and Digitalisation

PIF’s results also demonstrate the growing importance of digital transformation within its operations and investment strategy. During 2025, the fund launched 100 digital applications and deployed 43 AI-enabled solutions as part of its broader ambition to become a fully digital-native investment institution.

New Strategic Phase

With its 2021-2025 strategy now complete, PIF is entering a new phase focused on scaling competitive domestic industries while pursuing high-conviction global opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, energy transition, sports and entertainment.

As the Kingdom accelerates its diversification agenda, PIF’s ability to combine global investment reach with domestic industrial development is likely to remain a defining factor in shaping Saudi Arabia’s next chapter of growth.
