Award-winning Almajdouie Group has reported that it successfully completed a project for the transportation of four pieces of oversized and heavy cargo required by the Ras Tanura diesel hydro treatment plant in the Saudi Eastern Province.

The cargo was transported as part of a contract the group won from Hyukjin Shipping Co of Korea which itself was contracted by Samsung Engineering Company. Under the contract, Almajdouie is required to haul a total of 6,122 tonnes of equipment in 2008 and 2009.
Group company Almajdouie Heavylift Transport and Engineering transported two reactors, an HP stripper and an HP absorber in the latest movement of goods.
The two reactors, hauled across 60 km from Jubail to the Ras Tanura plant, weighed 403 tonnes each and had a length of 32.89 m, width of 5.81 m and height of 6.10 m.
A spokesman for Almajdouie said the cargo transportation was successful thanks to intense prior preparations including a route survey and removal of wayside obstacles such as street lights, signals, barricades and fencing.
The cargo was offloaded at the plant and installed with the help of a site crane.
The HP stripper and absorber weighing 176 and 130 tonnes respectively were transported from a local fabricating firm Jubail Gulf Heavy Industries using conventional trailers, one of 18 axles and the other of 12.  The stripper was 37.8 m long, 4.8 m wide and 5.07 m high. The corresponding measurements of the absorber were 25.6 m, 3.46 m and 3.73 m.
Almajdouie Group expects to move 11 other pieces of heavy equipment by the end of this year.
