Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) has completed work on Blue Marlin, a 76,410-tonne semi-submersible open-deck heavy transport carrier belonging to Dockwise Shipping.

Work on the massive vessel was carried out at Asry’s half-million-tonne dry dock facility, which saw the ship‘s 63 m breadth leave only a 6 m space clear on either side of the dock.
The work carried out on the Blue Marlin, which is capable of carrying structures of up to 73,000 tonnes,  constituted the completion of her second special survey, renewal of approximately 30 tonnes of steel in various places, blasting and painting of the hull, main deck and ballast tanks, and maintenance of valves, electric motors, steering gear and winches.
Asry achieved a net operating income of $66.118 million in the first five months of this year.
The number of vessels repaired during this period reached 69. The details were provided at a company meeting presided by its chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Representatives from the remaining shareholding countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Iraq and Libya were present.
The company has honoured Salah Aziz Karim and Nabeel Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed for completing their tenure as Iraq’s representatives on its board.
They received commemorative gifts from Asry chairman Shaikh Daij.
The gifts were received on their behalf by Nazar Hussain Al Hafidh, the new Iraqi director, in the presence of other board members.
