Bohler Welding will reveal its full package of lean duplex, duplex and super duplex welding consumables for all popular arc welding processes at the 2009 Gulf Industry Fair.
Weld metal characteristics such as a pitting resistance >35° C and impact strength down to - 46° C are crucial for many sophisticated applications in the chemical, petrochemical and offshore industries, says a spokesperson for Alruqee Industrial Marketing Company Limited, which is Bohler Welding’s Saudi-based agent.
An increasing number of customers are picking up Bohler Welding’s top-class flux cored wires to slash their total fabrication costs by up to 50 per cent when compared to gas metal arc welding (GMAW) with solid wires, he says.
The Austria-based company has an enviable presence in the region due to its broad range of products and solutions-based service delivered through Alruqee Industrial Marketing Company.
Bohler Welding has been moulding the “world of welding” with its new products, materials and processes over decades. Besides being a producer, it also plays the role of a development, technology and service partner for its customers.
The new generation of duplex steel with a lower nickel and mo content is a relevant cost-saving factor. Lean duplex – 1.4162/UNS S32101 and 1.4362/UNS S32304 – is able to substitute the steel 1.4301 for nearly every application and for some special cases the steel 1.4571/1.4404, the spokesperson says.
The higher strength of the LDX steel in comparison to traditional austenitic stainless steel allows smaller and therefore cost-efficient constructions. Bohler Welding now presents the matching filler metal for this new steel.
Bohler CN 24/9 LDX meets the low overmatching conception of the filler metal in comparison to the lean duplex steel, the spokesperson explains.
The Bohler Welding flux cored wires Bohler CN 24/9 LDX-FD and Bohler CN 24/9 LDX PW-FD have been developed especially for the new lean duplex steel grade 1.4162/UNS S 32101 and 1.4362/UNS S32304.
The benefits of the base material in combination with the well-known and efficient welding characteristics of Bohler Welding flux cored wires offer the possibility of new innovative steel constructions in many different industries.
The prime targets are chemical industries such as biofuel, the pulp and paper industry and the food industry.
Due to the benefit in weight, more and more storage tanks for finished and semi-finished products of the mentioned industries are manufactured with lean duplex.
The package of lean duplex that will be unveiled at the fair includes Bohler CN 24/9 LDX-IG (GMAW and GTAW) and Bohler CN 24/9 LDX-UP (SAW).
The full package of 22 Cr duplex includes Bohler Fox CN 22/9 N (E2209-17) (SMAW), Bohler Fox CN 22/9 N-B (E2209-15) (SMAW), Bohler CN 22/9 N-IG (ER 2209) (GMAW and GTAW), Bohler CN 22/9 N-UP + Flux BB 202 (ER 2209) (SAW).
The 25 Cr super duplex package comprises Bohler Fox CN 25/9 CuT (E2553-15 (mod) (SMAW), Bohler CN 25/9 CuT-IG (ER 2553 (mod) (GMAW & GTAW) and Bohler CN 25/9 CuT-UP + BB 202 (SAW).
Bohler Welding attributes the secret of its success to its “knowledge of materials.” With the ongoing construction boom in the Middle East, Bohler Welding Group is readying for a major role in the region.
It is based in Kapfenberg, Austria (www.boehler-welding.com). Alruqee Industrial Marketing Company is based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
