

Swiss manufacturer Farros Grinding Systems has diversified into supplying tools for robots. “We have started, as an additional target, to produce the first heads for use on robots for new applications,” a company spokesman said.
For more than 40 years the company, based in the Swiss area of Matzingen, has specialised in the design and manufacturing of special grinding installations for different applications.
The company boasts it currently has more than 420 of its machines in operation worldwide and highlights that it considers it important to upgrade its equipment with innovations.
The product range comprises belt grinding machines, general grinding machines for vessels, edge preparation by grinding, grinding machines for dished ends and grinding heads to adapt on robots.
Farros’ customers are drawn from engineering companies and manufacturers of vessels and installations for the chemical and petrochemical, food and beverage, offshore nuclear and pipe industries.
At Gulf Industry Fair, the company will be showing pictures and a DVD about its most popular machines for edge preparation, back gouging, weld seam removal of longitudinal and circumferential seams and the grinding and polishing of internal and external surfaces as well as machines for grinding stainless steel vessels and dished ends with small material thickness of 600 mm to 1,500 mm.
