Prisma has contributed much to the construction industry

Prisma Engineering Group, a subsidiary of Emirates Investment and Development, is in an expansive mode.

It recently acquired a 60 per cent stake in the Germany-based Eilenburger Fenstertechnik GmbH and Company, manufacturer of high- quality aluminum and UPVC doors, windows and shutters.
The initiative will boost the group’s windows and doors division’s production capacity to around 280,000 units of UPVC and aluminum doors, windows and shutters per annum from the current capacity of 180,000 units.
The group’s turnover has been increasing year-on-year over the past few years. It was around Dh85 million in 2006 and is estimated to be around Dh200 million last year because of the recent acquisitions.
The company is also expanding its facility in Dubai by constructing more buildings and more warehouses.
The UAE-based company is also expanding regionally by setting up more production facilities to cater to the growing market.
“We are setting up a new company in Saudi Arabia called Prisma Saudi Arabia,” says Dr Ammar Zouzou, company managing director.
The company is also in negotiations with some partners in Kuwait for constructing a facility in Damascus.
“The Dubai office will continue to function as the head office and all these facilities will be like branch factories, but will function as independent production facilities. In each of these countries we have local partners,” Dr Zouzou said.
The Saudi facility will also cater to Bahrain. The Syrian facility will take care of markets in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Northern Iraq while the one in Kuwait will look after Kuwait and southern Iraq.
The group also plans to set up an investment company called Prisma International Investment with an initial capital of around Dh200 million. The company, mainly targeting markets outside the Gulf such as North Africa, Asia and Europe, will be looking at acquiring/buying majority shares in existing companies.
Prisma’s services to the construction industry include the design, manufacturing and installation of space frames, point fixed glazing, glazed tension and cable structure, CAD/CAM design and manufacturing.
Prisma has also acquired shares in a company producing wooden furniture, kitchen cabinets and wooden doors and says the idea behind these acquisitions is to create a group of companies to cater to the complete requirements of the contractor. It is also planning an interior design company in collaboration with two Italian partners.
