The Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) has awarded a contract to US-based Washington Group International's subsidiary, Washington Enterprises Emirates LLC (WEEL) to perform front-end engineering and design services for a sulphur-handling facility.

The project will be undertaken in the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company's Ruwais Industrial complex to expand the operation's sulphur-handling capacity in response to the continued growth of the oil, gas and petrochemical market.
Sulphur is a byproduct of the refining process that produces products such as natural gas, LPG, gasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil.
