Otal launches new products

Otal markets products of a number of international companies

Dubai-based Otal, which specialises in job-specific tools and equipment, recently launched solvent recovery systems in the Gulf region.

The systems, manufactured by Formeco, Italy, use the principle of distillation, which allows the recycling and reuse of degreasing and washing solvents, says Naram H Nassar, Otal’s managing partner.
“Through this simple distillation process, they separate the contaminants (resins, polymers, pigments, paints, oil) from the original solvent.”
The product is suitable for mechanical, auto body-shops, paints, woodworking, fibreglass, metal works and printing industries - any industry that uses solvents, says Nassar.
“We have supplied one unit to Emirates Airlines for the new hangar used for painting aircraft,” he says.
Other recent additions to Otal’s product range are acid-recovery systems and ‘Power Moon’ – which is a portable, specialised power light (1000 W) weighing 20 kg and requires the smallest generator to operate it. It can replace a tower light having four projectors and is suitable for emergency lighting requirements and construction sites.
Since its establishment in 1996, Otal has become well known in the Gulf region for its superior tool products, commitment to quality, service and product performance, says Nassar.
Its most popular product is Freylit’s water recycling for car wash. It has sold over 20 units in the UAE. Other products include automotive-garage, petrol-station, forecourt and fuel-handling equipment, ESCA 2000 mobile scaffolding, fix-ring clamps, petro-clear fuel filters and PPW-Polyplan concrete repair and coating tools.
“PPW-Polyplan-Werkzeuge of Germany manufactures tools for concrete injection and repairs, and coating tools,” says Nassar. “It is internationally-renowned for its activities in concrete crack grouting and as a supplier of tools and equipment for the processing of liquid synthetic materials.”
The PPW-Polyplan range also includes injection equipment for grouting and sealing concrete and masonry cracks.
Otal also deals with Fix-Ring clamp from France, a high-quality, economical, fast and effective way to fix ducts and pipes
Meanwhile, a product, which has had major success in the UAE for Otal is an oil-water separator from Austrian firm Freylit.
“Freylit reduces the oil particles down to five parts per million (5 ppm), whereas the local specification allows up to 50 ppm in sewage,” says Nassar.
“Garages, car washes, oil facilities, tank farms, fuel suppliers, offshore production rigs and refineries, can save heavily on the disposal cost of contaminated water since they can reuse it or dispose of their wastewater directly to the sewage or back to nature once it has passed through the separator and its oil content is less than 5 ppm.”
More than 5,000 units ranging from the basic 180 litres per minute unit up to industrial installations of 10,000 cu m per hour have proven the efficiency of the Freylit separators worldwide, he says.
“There are more than 25 Freylit systems currently in use in the UAE.
“We represent around 12-15 companies and are the sole dealers for their products in the Gulf. We have our own representatives in other Gulf countries and re-export from here.
“The past few years have been good for our company, the market has grown and we have been able to meet our targets. Last year was better than expected. Our main market has always been our base, UAE. Only in the past two to three years we have started targeting other Gulf countries,” he concludes.
