Streamline Marketing, an organiser of regional events and exhibitions, has added a prestigious event to its expanding portfolio with the introduction of ‘Simply Woman’ - an event specifically for women and organised by women.

Launched to coincide with International Women’s Day in March 2004, ‘Simply Woman’ was conceived after international studies revealed that a massive 70 per cent of buying decisions were made by women - from choosing a car or house through to purchasing healthcare and holidays.

"Simply Woman’ has been designed with today’s woman in mind, whether she is a working professional, student, housewife or mother, to join in the event which will bring women together from across the region to experience two days of interaction in a comfortable and enjoyable environment that is as conducive to self-improvement and learning as it is to networking and socialising,” a press release said.

“Offering a unique platform, women will be able to gather detailed information from experts from companies and industries that include healthcare, insurance, careers, banking and finance, fashion, family, travel, interior design and jewellery.”

The event comes at a time when women are making great inroads into commercial and professional life. More women are now moving beyond traditional jobs in the educational and health services and taking up employment in financial institutions, the legal profession, business, consultancy services, the media and the manufacturing sector. In Saudi Arabia, there is a move to have larger numbers of women in the professions. Through their presence in commercial and professional careers, women’s purchasing power has exponentially increased over the past 20 years in the Middle East, and those marketing goods and services are increasingly targeting women, viewing possibilities of greatly enlarged sales.

Lucy d’Abo, project manager at Streamline Marketing, said: “This is a unique event that is dedicated to women from across the region. This is the first time that women will come together under one roof to discuss and learn about a vast variety of topics that affect their everyday lives.”

In addition, a dedicated section of the event will be for ‘Simply Health’, a medical forum for women to help them learn more about issues such as breast cancer, infertility, skin care, hair loss, sport, fitness and weight loss. They will receive tips from leading professional medical speakers including experts from the Gulf, the UK and the Netherlands.

Held in partnership with Doctorinternet, an English and Arabic UK-based specialist online medical consultancy, ‘Simply Health’ is dedicated to women’s key health issues and special attention will be paid to breast cancer awareness with a talk by the UAE’s leading breast surgeon, Dr Houriya Kazim.

With a strict ‘women only’ door, the female audience will be able to speak freely and learn more about issues that concern or worry them or ones they simply want to learn more about.
A proportion of the ticket revenue from ‘Simply Woman’ will be donated directly to breast cancer awareness programmes.
