Security products company Xtreme Defence Security Inc (XDS), whose customers include some of the most high-profile parties in the Western world, has launched its operations in the Middle East and South Asia.
XDS’ customers include the US Senate, US Supreme Court, US Department of Defence, US Capitol Police Department, Boeing Aeronautical Corporation, United Nations, World Bank and Lloyd’s of London.
The company, based in the British Virgin Islands, represents a range of products for the safety and security of civilians, law enforcement personnel and the armed forces. All products are manufactured in the US and meet US, British and international testing standards. XDS will exclusively market and distribute the products throughout the Middle East from its office at the Dubai Airport Free Zone.
The company’s products have principally been used in government office buildings to guard against natural disasters and attacks such as vandalism, burglary and terrorism. One of the key security products that XDS offers is a film and acrylic adhesive system that, when applied to ordinary glass, turns it into a powerfully protective shield. Using a patented chemical process, the adhesive strengthens ordinary glass by up to 400 per cent, protecting consumers from injuries resulting from accidents or shattered glass. This state-of-the-art system also reduces the potential of ‘smash and grab’ burglaries, forced entry, and theft and absorbs more than 98 per cent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
XDS director Ranjan Mazumdar said his company was looking forward to providing customers in the region with a cost-effective protective solution. “Most window breakage occurs as a result of an accident, burglary, terrorism or bad weather, and shattered pieces of glass are always a potential danger to property and individuals,” he maintained.
“The limitation of everyday glass is that it breaks. Glass is the weakest aspect in the safety of any building or vehicle in terms of protecting lives and property. The primary function of this product is to strengthen the glass first, then keep it intact in its frame, if broken. It is a proven fact that the XDS System can reduce damage and injury by up to 80 per cent,” said Khurrum Hamirani, another XDS director.
Another innovative product featured in the XDS range is the Xtreme Unidirectional Protection System (XUPS). This glass and plastic armour system protects against hostile fire, while allowing return fire safely from inside a car, building or any other structure.
The XUPS bullet-resistant glass, unidirectional glass and opaque components can be combined at a low cost as a lightweight protection system for transport vehicles, ‘money in transfer’ vehicles, boats, buildings, entry points, lockable revolving doors, holding cells, ballistic shields, private home protection, high-risk retail stores, financial institutions and portable armour systems.
“There are multiple reasons for organisations and individuals to adopt these products - state-of-the-art technology, affordability, ease of use and increased security concerns,” said Mazumdar.
