Mobil 1 with SuperSyn: fifth generation

ExxonMobil has introduced a new generation of the world’s leading synthetic motor oil - Mobil 1 - into the Bahrain market.

Mobil 1 with SuperSyn anti-wear technology is the fifth-generation improvement of Mobil 1.
“It delivers unsurpassed engine-wear protection and all-temperature durability and promotes exceptional engine cleanliness,” said Samir Azzi, technical and aviation manager, ExxonMobil Middle East Marketing Corp.

“The new formulation provides even greater protection for high-performance automobiles as well as engines with years and kilometres of service. The fifth generation of Mobil 1 combines high performance base stocks, the new SuperSyn anti-wear technology and a proprietary additive system to deliver the kind of wear protection that motorists seek today.”

The SuperSyn anti-wear system was developed in Formula One racing and has also proved itself in drag racing, protecting bearings and parts of super-charged engines.
The new product exceeds the latest international lubricant standards set by vehicle manufacturers and the oil industry, according to ExxonMobil. Passing more engine builder tests than any other synthetic motor oil, the new formulation was introduced to the North America market in 2002 and is being introduced worldwide beginning in 2003 on a market-by-market basis, it said.

In addition to the SuperSyn anti-wear system, it uses a combination of high-performance engineered fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAO) to provide superior protection for both new engines and higher mileage vehicles operating under normal to even the most severe conditions, the company said. It explained that the new oil formulation delivered faster lubrication of start-ups in temperatures as cold as -50C, could handle extreme high temperatures up to 204C (4000 F) and operated in high-load conditions, such as hauling and towing.

1n addition, it enhanced engine cleanliness and operating efficiency. Compared to conventional motor oils, the new generation of Mobil 1 synthetic oil offered greater resistance to oil oxidation, or thickening, and significantly reduced the buildup of sludge and harmful deposits, which could lead to engine wear and damage to bearings and other lubricated parts.

“For three decades, Mobil 1 has focused on protecting vehicle engines under circumstances where conventional oil cannot, such as extreme cold starting temperatures, and improving overall engine performances,” said Azzi. “With the introduction of Mobil 1 with SuperSyn, this latest generation of synthetic oil raises the bar in unsurpassed engine protection, performance, and cleanliness for virtually every vehicle conditions.”
The product is available in a number of viscosity grades that are designed for specific engine applications. Popular viscosity in Bahrain is OW-40. Each grade was designed and developed to complement different styles of driving.

Mobil 1 is factory fill in some of the world’s finest luxury and high-performance automobiles including Mercedes-Benz AMG, Porsche, Aston Martin, Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac XLR and Dodge Viper.

Mobil 1 technology has been proven in motor racing, where engines are subjected to extreme stresses. These include such racing circuits as Formula One, Indy Racing League and Nascar as well as the Australian V-8 Supercup, DTM and Emirates Motor Sports Federation Rally.
