Fujairah Municipality has issued a notice on sanitary rules for industrial units, according to a UAE news report.
The rules require investors applying for licences to submit a detailed study about their project to the municipality, outlining the level of expected damage to the environment and alternatives to help reduce it.
Municipality director Rashid Hamdan Abdullah was quoted as saying that all industrial plants should follow the rules since the municipality was authorised to enforce Federal Law No 24 of 1999 to protect the environment.
"No new industrial unit will be licensed if it does not apply sanitary rules properly," said Abdullah.
