Aggreko, a specialist in temporary power generation and temperature control services, has consolidated its presence in Yemen by winning another contract to supply power to the state’s Public Electricity Corporation (PEC).

Yemen has experienced considerable economic growth in recent years, with a corresponding increase in demand for power.
PEC contracted Aggreko to provide 100 MW for six power stations in the cities of Amran, Aden, Taiz and Liaj to add to the 105 MW the company already supplies to the country.
“The signing of this contract highlights the Government of Yemen’s commitment to on-going economical reforms and its commitment to reduce power outages,” said Prime Minister Dr Ali Mohamed Majawar.
“The first two contracts have contributed to the reduction of power cuts, which continue to support infrastructure development”.
Dr Mujawar added: “PEC aims to provide power for the rural areas of Yemen and we view Aggreko as a partner in increasing rural access to electricity in line with PEC’s programme. Aggreko’s timely implementation of earlier projects and their experience with grid support enabled them to win the third contract.”
Aggreko has developed turnkey solutions which are custom-designed and can be rapidly mobilised from its network of service centres located throughout the Middle East.
In addition, the company’s on-site service and maintenance crews are available 24/7 to ensure that equipment always operates at peak performance to deliver reliable power supply.
Aggreko provides 24/7 availability and service support with more than 2,200 employees operating from over 100 locations in 29 countries.
In 2006, they served customers in 90 countries, and had revenues of approximately $997 million.
