Cavotec Middle East is continuing its consolidation process in the GCC region with the announcement it will soon open a regional office at the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai.

Commenting on the move, Cavotec Middle East regional manager and executive chairman Thomas Widegren said: “The continuing upswing in the number of projects in the Middle East region has resulted in several major contracts for Cavotec. This has necessitated a bigger operational headquarters for us in the region.”
Cavotec is a global leader in power supply equipment to a wide range of industries including aviation, oil and gas, mining and ports and maritime sectors. The company has spent Dh10 million ($2.72 million) on the new office, which is four times bigger than the current one it occupies in the free zone.
More than 60 staff members will be based at the expanded headquarters, which was constructed with an eye on the future. The new Jebel Ali headquarters offers 1,000 sq m of office space and 4,200 sq m of warehouse area.
Cavotec recently opened branch offices in Abu Dhabi and in Doha, Qatar. The company is planning to increase its business volume in these markets substantially in the next two to four years.
“These markets offer us bigger potential with several ongoing and upcoming projects. For example the Abu Dhabi International Airport expansion project and construction activities at the Taweelah Port and Industrial Area are expected to be promising extra business potential,” said Widegren.
Cavotec’s equipment supplies power and water to aircraft while parked on the tarmac or in hangars, along with pre-conditioned air to cool the cabin. This range also includes aircraft towbars and access stairs.
The company has already installed 120 revolutionary pop-up units in the new Emirates Engineering hangar at Dubai International Airport.
It also fitted similar equipment for the A380 ‘super-jumbo’ in Concourse 1 of Dubai Airport and is supplying power and air supply equipment for 27 gates at Concourse 2, currently under construction.
Cavotec Middle East recorded an annual turnover of Dh100 million in 2006 against Dh60 million in 2005.
