Sajan: Fire safety a critical issue in the construction industry

Danube Building Materials FZCO, stockist of over 10,000 products, recently launched a comprehensive range of fire-retardant materials (known in the industry as fire-rated solutions) sourced from five leading European manufacturers.

The range includes fire-retardant MDF, chipboard, plywood, boards, door cores, laminates, paints, adhesives and iron mongery, all designed to international standards and approved by Dubai Civil Defence.
“Fire safety in the construction industry is a critical issue, especially with Civil Defence authorities enforcing the use of fire-retardant materials in key areas, including the entrance, staircase area and kitchen,” says Rizwan Sajan, chairman of Danube Building Materials. ”Foreseeing the need for international standard fire-rated solutions, Danube has assembled the widest range to meet local demand.”
Anticipating increased demand, Danube has opened a dedicated door factory in Dubai, where world-class fire-retardant doors are manufactured in collaboration with Spano of Belgium and Halspan from the UK.
Operating from its head office in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Danube covers the Gulf with a network comprising two branches in Dubai, two in Muscat, two in Abu Dhabi and one each in Sharjah and Al Ain.
Currently the company is on expansion mode with plans to launch new showrooms, both locally and abroad.
It recently opened a showroom each in Bahrain and Mumbai, India. Its next target is Qatar, which is experiencing a construction boom.
Danube also has operations in China with two branches.
The company was established in Dubai 13 years ago. It operates from a 225,000 sq ft facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, which includes its offices, warehouses and a factory.
Some of its prestigious projects include Emaar projects such as Emirates Hills, the Burj Al Arab, Shangri-La Hotel, Grand Hyatt, and a private palace in Muscat.
