While preparations are underway to commemorate 100 years of UPS service next year at the company’s headquarters in Atlanta, USA, the employees at the UAE office have their own reasons to smile.
Completing 10 years in the Emirates this year, the world’s largest package delivery company has crossed a major milestone in its operations, an achievement the company attributes to its dedicated staff, industry expertise, technological know-how and a thorough knowledge of customer needs and market trends in the region. The company is now riding a new wave as it enters a second phase of growth and expansion. Seeing the rise in demand for its service offerings, UPS recently trebled the space for its supply chain solutions arm at Jebel Ali Free Zone. The company also plans to expand its operations with a new warehouse in Al Quoz by year’s end.
“Voted by the World Bank as one of the most conducive and least cumbersome countries to set up a business in, the UAE has played a pivotal role in welcoming new organisations from a variety of vertical sectors into the economy,” says John Tansey, country manager of UPS (UAE). Considered to be the business hub of the Middle East region, today an increasing number of internationally renowned brands from the world of hospitality, tourism, retail, technology, real estate, banking, and logistics are establishing their regional presence in the UAE.
