Al Ain Dairy has launched its camel milk ice cream, the first of its kind in the UAE market.
Italian chef and ice cream specialist Enzo La Blunda is supervising the manufacturing process to ensure quality standards are maintained, a company spokesman said.
The process does not use an automatic mixing and filling equipment so as to retain the flavour of the Italian ingredients, he added. The ice cream is available in strawberry, caramel and chocolate flavours in 100 and 350 gm packs.
“Children who are allergic to products made from cow’s milk can now enjoy their taste of ice cream. Camel milk ice cream is also safe for people suffering from lactose intolerance. The vitamin C content in camel milk, which is about 3 times more than in fresh cow’s milk, makes the ice cream indeed a healthy dessert.” The fat content in the ice cream was stated to be a maximum of 2.5 per cent. The average ice cream contains between 6 and 9 per cent of fat.
During the last few years, Al Ain Dairy invested heavily in new dairy farms, plant and equipment upgrades, a new distribution fleet and staff training. Al Ain Dairy operates a camel farm and produces and distributes camel milk.
