Bahrain District Cooling Company, also known as Tabreed Bahrain, has signed its largest-ever contract in the kingdom to provide cooling services to Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH).

The project, which will be fed by the company’s North Shore District Cooling Network, will provide about 30,000 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) to the entire $1.3 billion Bahrain Financial Harbour development.
“BFH will be one of the Middle East’s premier destinations for regional financial sector companies,” said Nawaf Sadeddin, chief development officer, BFH.
“We chose Tabreed Bahrain because it has a comprehensive track record in regional district cooling expertise and we wanted nothing but the best.”
The first phase of the project is due to be ready in the beginning of next year.
“BFH is one of the kingdom’s most prestigious and exciting developments,” said Abdulrahman Jamsheer, Tabreed Bahrain’s chairman.  “This win is a considerable boost to our efforts in promoting the use of district cooling as an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient means of providing cooling services for future developments”.
Tabreed Bahrain was set up in 2004 and is a joint venture between UAE-headquartered National Cooling Company (Tabreed), Esterad (Esterad Investment Company BSC) and the AA Bin Hindi Group. The company is currently constructing a 30,000-tonne district cooling plant in the Diplomatic Area of Bahrain’s capital Manama, which will serve the Bahrain World Trade Centre and other buildings.
