Abahsain operation in Hidd

Abahsain, among the top 60 companies in Saudi Arabia, will be one of the star facilities at the up-and-coming Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd, not far from Bahrain International Airport.

The company is building a state-of-the-art fibreglass manufacturing facility in a joint venture with the US company GSI.
Investment for the plant will be around $337.7 million, and expectations are that 195 people will be employed at full production. The company has booked an area of 50,000 sq m and construction will begin soon.
But the credit for being the first company to start work on building facilities goes to Global Logistics Services.
According to officials, more than 30 per cent of available property has been allocated to companies, and 28 establishments have received approval for plots in the industrial area, which totally covers an area of 250 hectares.
Among companies to begin operations in the enclave is the stainless steel fabrication company Al Jazira Cooling and Heating, which will employ 45 when it opens. Box Makers, owned by the P Haridas Group, already operates a successful facility for the manufacture of boxes in Bahrain. The company is expected to take in 100 staff.
Another company, Bahrain-based Oriental Press, is also expected to begin construction soon of its facility. Ramez International, which will make plastic and paper products, will have more than 100 on its rolls.
Japanese technology company Yokogawa will establish a high-technology facility for assembling, engineering and commissioning the company’s control systems for the region and later will add offices for its regional sales headquarters. The company operates in three main sectors, namely oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, and power and desalination.
Maskati Brothers and Company will establish a manufacturing facility for paper, plastic and aluminium foil products in a bid to expand its current output.
BIIP will be well served by the new Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Port in Muharraq. The Ministry of Commerce, which is establishing the park, expects it to be fully completed and occupied by January 2010. The ministry has outsourced the administration and marketing of the project to International Development, Ireland.
