Dubai Techno Park has teamed up with DiaMed Holding AG, Switzerland, to set up a regional support centre at an initial investment of $1.7 million.

DiaMed Holding’s sister concern, DiaMed Middle East Ltd, is due to begin operations at Techno Park by the middle of next year. The centre will meet the needs of hospitals and medical institutions spread across the entire Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent and Africa.
Abdullah A Al Janahi, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Techno Park, said: “This centre by one of the world’s leading companies will complement the various health care and research institutions coming up as part of Dubai’s plans to emerge as the region’s premier health services provider and will bring advanced research and technology to Techno Park.”
Al Janahi added: “Dubai Techno Park is already host to some leading regional and international industry players. The park’s incentives, single-window clearance and modern infrastructure facilities are attracting a growing number of investors to this exclusive zone in Dubai. We are committed to providing them with every support possible to allow them to operate efficiently and in the most cost-effective manner possible.”
DiaMed Middle East will basically establish facilities for manufacturing laboratory products and a scientific centre for training at Techno Park, which is the Middle East’s largest technology hub attracting a growing number of regional and global companies in the high-technology, oil and gas, research and environment management sectors to set up shop in Dubai.
The Scientific Centre will comprise a showroom for DiaMed’s latest instruments and devices; a maintenance centre to repair defective instruments and train technicians and engineers in handling instruments; a separate education centre where regular courses will be held for up to 50 laboratory physicians and technologists by internationally qualified staff; and a reference laboratory.
DiaMed’s Middle East president, Dr Bahy Ayoub, said: “The company upholds DiaMed’s corporate philosophy of spreading education and giving back to society, the services and products that will enhance the quality of medical standards. The Scientific Centre will provide the ultimate possible technical, maintenance and logistic support for an area that is in great need of immediate and continuous medical service.”
Ayoub said DiaMed Holding had chosen Techno Park because of its connectivity with major cities and the rapid communication facilities that allowed prompt distribution of equipment and services. Dubai’s plans to become the region’s health care centre made it the ideal location for a leading company such as DiaMed.
The regional centre will initially employ 10 persons.
