The V1/Lutra 30 sports boat

UAE-based V1 Advanced Composite Technologies, which is primed to become a global leader in advanced composite yacht building, launched its next-generation racing yacht, the V1/Lutra 30 Sports Boat.

The craft was used by all the teams contesting the Dubai match race of the Dubai Junior Regatta at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) recently.
The four new sport boats were completely built at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai.
Unveiled to a crowd of boating enthusiasts and racing teams at a dedication ceremony, the V1/Lutra 30 is considered a marvel of the latest computer-aided design technologies and is set to conquer the challenges of world-class one-design and IRC racing.  Bringing together an enviable array of specialists, the Lutra Design Group of the Netherlands, were the boat’s architects, while structural engineering was done by SP Technologies-UK.
“Our V1/Lutra 30 differs from those of our competitors because we have applied the latest production technologies to deliver a highly competitive boat, and used the best materials and equipment in the industry for a price which is below a standard polyester cruising vessel of the same size,” said Martin Bender, V1’s managing director. “Initial sea trials, performed in very strong winds, exceeded all expectations and demonstrated the new V1/Lutra 30 Racer’s impressive performance.”
The dynamic spirit of the boat is clearly expressed through her clean and racy looks, reflecting her strong racing pedigree. The boat’s hull and deck are made out of super-light advanced composites, post-cured and built in a female mould, while its mast is a high-modulus carbon fibre rig from Hall Spars in the USA.
The V1/Lutra 30’s routine functions, such as trailering and rigging, are custom engineered for minimal delivery time and effort.  Trailering safety is increased by the retractable keel and rudder.
Established in Dubai in direct response to the contemporary evolution of the boating industry, performance standards, and use of advanced composite materials and processing technologies, V1 Advanced Composite Technologies considers the production of ultra-modern yachts with advanced composite materials as the backbone of its enterprise.
The deal for the development and supply of these next- generation sail boats for the Dubai Junior Regatta comes hard on the heels of the company’s recent landmark agreement with world-renowned yacht racer Russell Coutts to produce a one-design racer, the Russell Coutts 44, for international competition.
