Volvo sales surge 39 per cent
In October Volvo Trucks delivered 11,110 vehicles, an increase of 39 per cent compared with the year-earlier period.
Deliveries in Europe totalled 4,628 trucks, up 34 per cent year-on-year. Truck deliveries in Eastern Europe rose 130 per cent. The trend in Russia remained positive with October deliveries increasing 150 per cent to 561 vehicles.
Truck deliveries in Brazil rose 24 per cent year-on-year. In total, deliveries in South America rose 30 per cent to 2,050 trucks compared with October 2010.
Truck deliveries in the North American market rose by 51 per cent to 2,501 vehicles,
AutoChina leased vehicles up
AutoChina International Limited, China’s largest commercial vehicle sales, servicing, leasing, and support network, announced that the company leased 3,126 commercial vehicles (primarily Class 8 heavy trucks) in the third quarter of 2011, compared to 2,849 in the third quarter of 2010 as part of the company’s sales-type leasing programme.
Since launching its commercial vehicle sales and leasing business in March 2008, the company has leased over 30,000 trucks.
AutoChina also opened 31 new commercial vehicle financing and service centres during the third quarter of 2011.
Daimler Trucks achieves milestone
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) announced the delivery of its 1,000th natural gas truck and is the first commercial vehicle manufacturer to achieve such a milestone.
DTNA turned over the key to its 1,000th natural gas truck, a Freightliner M2 112 compressed natural gas (CNG) truck with a Cummins Westport ISL G engine, to customer Ryder System Inc during a ceremony to commemorate the milestone at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.
The Freightliner M2 112 CNG truck is powered by a Cummins Westport ISL G 8.9 L engine, the only one of its kind that is a factory-produced, dedicated natural gas engine.
