Sigma Paints has announced the Middle East launch of its eco-friendly paint, the ‘0’ VOC Sigmacryl Ecoplus, which it said represented the highest sustainability paint concept.
“This extremely durable, high-quality paint system is a tribute to both the environment and human health and the first zero per cent VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint system in Arabia,” a company spokesman said.
Sigmacryl Ecoplus carries the EU eco label Flower, which implies it meets the strictest environmental rules in Europe.
The eco label scheme follows the cradle-to-grave approach, taking into account the entire product lifecycle – from production and use to disposal. Only if products can be guaranteed to be equally efficient as conventional products can they be awarded the flower logo launched in 1992, Sigma pointed out.
“The world is showcasing an increased awareness for sustainability with impact on consumer behavior and altering trends in the professional world. Yet, this positive movement can be maintained in practice only by offering the construction market environmentally friendly products without reduction in the overall performance,” observed Sigma Middle East brand manager Steven Rijkaard.

Sigma marketing manager Antoine Lejuez, who was responsible for the implementation of the ‘0’ VOC product launch across the company’s division in Europe before coming to the Middle East last year, commented: “The launch got excellent feedback.
