The office furniture landscape in the UAE is changing with companies demanding furniture that can inspire their employees and generate more versatility and productivity.
This means having to install elegant desks, ergonomic seats and functional yet aesthetic storage units.
“From aesthetic designs, adjustable desks and mobile storage cabinets, the country’s office furniture scene is witnessing a proliferation of products that address fundamental challenges when it comes to how, when and where people work,” observed Office Furnishing Interior Solutions (Ofis), the furniture, flooring and interior solutions business of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (Esag).
Ofis’ large portfolio of world-class brands includes Wilkhahn, Unifor, Della Valentina, BP Ergo, Dauphin, Trendline, Benel, Interface and Parador. Its showroom is located in Dubai at the foot of Maktoum Bridge.
Ergo has launched its latest collection, the Totem range, which claims to offer “new ways of working by inspiring employee creativity, communication and collaboration.”
The range, which includes Elevate, Curves, Caddy, Teamwork and Tycoon executive cabin furniture, presents exclusive features such as adjustable height for desks, mobile storage for use anywhere and tables that come with or without partitions that are ideal for meetings, conferences and training.
Emphasising the need for functional furniture in modern offices, Pauly Jos, sales manager, OFIS, said: “Present-day offices need more than workstations. Employees need space where they can meet, interact and brainstorm. While conference rooms fulfill this need, they take up a great deal of space. As a result, many companies would rather invest in functional furniture that allows optimum utilisation of minimal space and enhances productivity.”
Ajai Dayal, general manager, retail and marketing, Easa Saleh Al Group, remarked: “At the Office exhibition held in Dubai recently, we saw a heavy demand for office furniture in the UAE which is now estimated between Dh700 billion ($190 billion) and Dh1 billion. Most companies are concerned about the health and safety of their employees and are refurnishing their offices to invest in ergonomic and functional furniture.”
Ergo recently furnished the MashreqBank office in Dubai. The company has also designed the offices of large corporates in India and select business houses in the West.
The Totem range is designed to provide all the facilities of a conference room with space-saving features. Ergo won an award for its Totem range at the Business World National Institute of Design (NID) Awards held in Ahmedabad, India, last year.
