Heffernan: an integrated approach

Septech, the process engineering company, has been given the task of supplying and installing water process equipment to Atlantis, The Palm.

The $30 million installation will ensure the unique water attractions, integral to the success of the theme park, are maintained using high-quality water.
Located in the UAE for 10 years and with clients including Emirates Airlines, members of the UAE Ruling Family and Etisalat Academy, Septech, together with joint venture partner, Ashbrook Simon-Hartley, was appointed because of its regional experience in  conducting process engineering and supplying designs and equipment for municipal, industrial water and wastewater clients.
“Our combined experience with joint venture partner, Ashbrook Simon-Hartley,  in designing, manufacturing and installing high-quality equipment for water and wastewater treatment applications spans 100 years, 35 of which have been spent on jobs in the Middle East,” said Septech managing director David Heffernan.
Heffernan went on to say that together with the local authorities, Septech is responsible for managing a range of environmentally sensitive factors, a natural spin off from projects of this magnitude and nature.
“The need for aquaculturist support has been identified as a major priority,” Heffernan said.
“We have already undertaken extensive research into similar waterscape projects around the world.  This research has led to the establishment of a network of specialists with specific experience gained within the last five years conducting process design, construction, operational work and commissioning of various water parks internationally.”
Septech’s managing director said they would adopt an integrated approach to the execution of work involved, including risk management, planning, quality management and environmental management.
Atlantis, The Palm, will be located at the centre of the crescent of The Palm, Jumeirah, and the waterscape will include one of the world’s largest man-made marine habitats as well as water slides to cater for local and international visitors.
