FG Wilson (Engineering) FZE, a leader in generating set sales in the Middle East and Asia, opened its new Regional Centre of Excellence for power generation solutions in the South Zone at the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafz).
The high-tech 15,000 sq m facility was inaugurated by Bill Rohner, vice president of Caterpillar Inc, US, and Salma Hareb, CEO, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza), in the presence of Doug Oberhelman, group president of Caterpillar Inc US, P Ian Moore, vice president for sales and dealer support, FG Wilson Engineering, UK, and other dignitaries. FG Wilson (Engineering) FZE has been operating in Jafza since 1991, and the new facility is expected to further consolidate the company’s position in the power generating sets market in the region.
Alok Rawat, managing director, FG Wilson (Engineering) FZE, said, “This state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar modern premises will integrate a large warehouse, a regional training centre, a fully equipped service bay and an administration block. The new facility will act as a regional centre of excellence for power generation solutions in the region and shall play an instrumental role in achieving our vision of becoming the leader in customer value in the field of power generation.”
Rawat said his company’s association with Jebel Ali free zone dated back to over a decade and that it was totally satisfied by the facilities available there. The regular expansion in infrastructure at Jafza had helped the company carry out operations smoothly and efficiently and it was looking forward to operate from the new premises.
Commenting on the development, Hareb said, “The opening of this new facility at Jafza has strengthened our relationship with FG Wilson, which has created a niche for itself in the competitive power generating sets market.”
She observed that Jafza’s superior infrastructure facilities, proximity to the port and excellent connectivity had given a definite advantage to its clients.
“We are certain that with its new set up at the free zone, FG Wilson will be able to significantly enhance its productivity and consolidate its market position in the region,” she said.
“The large-scale commercial developments taking place across the UAE, especially in the tourism sector had strengthened the market potential for power generators, making this a timely expansion by FG Wilson. Jafza will offer FG Wilson all the support and assistance they would require in efficiently carrying out operations at the new Regional Centre of Excellence,” assured Hareb.
FG Wilson (Engineering) FZE sells the complete range of its diesel generators from 5.5 kVA to 2200 kVA load transfer panels and gas generator sets. The company has a dedicated and qualified team of engineers headed by Naveen D’Souza, manager-Power Systems, that works closely with the factory and can provide solutions to specialised genset requirements.
The FG Wilson brand of generators is manufactured by Ireland-based FG Wilson Engineering Ltd, a major global player in the field of power-generation solutions and a fully owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc, US. Today, FG Wilson is the largest generating set manufacturer in the UK and one of the largest in the world, with a capacity to manufacture over 50,000 such sets per annum.
