MESC wins Kuwait contract

MESC Specialised Cables has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract in Kuwait for the supply of specialised cables.

The company teamed up with SNC-Lavalin UK Ltd and Heisco and was awarded a contract to supply all the instrumentation and control cables for the Kuwait Oil Company’s (KOC) GC-27 New Desalter and Light Crude Train Project.
The project covers the expansion of GC-27 in Umm Gudair oilfield in the west of Al Ahmadi and modifications to the light crude train and related mechanical, electrical and civil works. The project involves increasing the capacity of the facility to 220,000 bpd day from 190,000 bpd. The scope of the work also includes construction of a new desalter unit and supply and installation of an effluent water separation facility.
“We are proud and delighted to work with SNC-Lavalin and Heisco and to add another big project to our reference list, which will further enhance the company’s position as a world-class specialised cables manufacturer and supplier,” said Fathi Hassan, MESC’s general manager for marketing and sales.
“The vision MESC has for the next five years falls in line with the vast developments taking place in the oil and gas industry and its customers’ needs.”
Hassan said the company had invested in improving its resources, machinery and final products. Special attention had been directed towards improving the after-sales division to ensure customers’ satisfaction and meet their requirements.
“The next few years will witness a major diversion for the MESC brand and will position the company on the market edge as the leader in the specialised, instrumentation and control cables industry.”
MESC had earlier worked on several important projects in Kuwait including the Effluent Water Project, Al Zour Distillation Plant, Replacement of NK Crude Oil Exports, BS 131 and Subiya Water Desalination Scheme (Stage 1).
The growing demand for energy projects in Kuwait and the rest of the GCC region has encouraged MESC Specialised Cables to enhance its position as a leading supplier of specialised cables and be at the heart of every project, a company spokesman said.
