
A major international exhibition related to the electricity industry is targeting the Gulf exhibitors and visitors for the event.
The Elec 2000 exhibition will be held from December 11 to 15 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre in Paris, France.
The biannual event will have 25 per cent extra floor space this year compared to the previous show in 1998. The exhibition area, spread across three halls, will be 120,000 sq m.
About 90 per cent of the area allocated to stands were already reserved as on December 31, 1999 by 1,503 exhibitors who have confirmed their presence at Elec 2000, says a spokesman.
Almost half of them are from abroad (32 countries outside France) and 20 per cent are newcomers.
Elec's offering is spread over four main categories and their applications in industry, services, home and infrastructure:
The exhibition will give particular attention to the lighting sector, notably lighting management; building control and regulation; HVAC; industrial computing; process applications; and CMMS (computerised maintenance management software).
"Elec has once again proved its reputation among the great number of exhibitors who have registered or re-registered. Its original concept and unique positioning in the world guarantee success for the future as they have in the past," says the spokesman.
"In the past 40 years, Elec has become a must for all the players in the electricity sector. [QQ]Every two years they come to Elec to meet professionals from the spheres of industry and construction."
Elec '98 attracted t 2,450 exhibitors from 43 countries and 86 per cent of the companies were of European origin. French firms accounted for 52 per cent of the total exhibitors with their number totalling 1,278.
A total of 124,024 identified trade visitors came to the event. The number of international visitors, from 137 countries, was 10,212, adds the spokesman.
