Dubai Internet City will host the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Emerging Market Economy Forum on Electronic Commerce.
The three-day event will take place in January 2001 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dubai, and will see participation from some 60 countries, including OECD nations as well as representatives of non-member economies and key e-commerce stakeholders from around the world.
"This forum is one of the world's most important policy shaping events for electronic commerce and aims to break down the barriers to global participation in the e-commerce revolution. Dubai is proud to be host to this event, and is keen to see the Middle East region gaining new impetus and value for its move to the Internet from the event," said Mohammed Al Gergawi, director general of the Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone. "The major topics which will be addressed at the event will include global policy on e-commerce legal issues, taxation and public policy."
The forum is a working level event intended to broaden the dialogue between stakeholders in the global digital economy. Over 500 delegates are expected to attend the event.
