Agility Project Logistics is a specialised extension of the company’s global logistics offering.
This unit is one of the world’s pre-eminent project management and forwarding services for large-scale complex logistics. As a specialised division they manage overland, sea, and air transport of containerised, break-bulk, hazardous and heavy-lift cargoes for the world’s leading engineering and construction companies.
With the support of its world-class global network, Agility Project Logistics operates a comprehensive portfolio of air, sea and road freight management logistics solutions in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
The success of this highly specialised division was fuelled by the petrochemical and energy sector and buoyed by this growth Agility is optimistic and looks forward to an even more successful 2007 with projections of a 30 – 40 per cent increase in turnover.
As the company heads into 2007 the specialised project logistics business has identified and incubated a number of niche acquisition opportunities that will significantly support and strengthen Agility’s growth commitments. Speaking about the direction in which Agility was looking to grow in the years ahead, Gregory Rusovich, president of Agility project logistics, says, “Our focus will always be our specialised area of business which is project logistics and we are very optimistic about our geographical footprints growing exponentially.”
Unveiling the secret of their successful operations with specific reference to their operations in North America, Rusovich says their ability to offer a comprehensive in-house export packing service gives them a distinct edge over competitors in the same line of business as most companies outsource certain critical components of the project supply chain logistics.
Commenting on the current trends in the logistics industry, Rusovich says, “One very distressing trend is the acute shortage of project vessel tonnage. The spiralling rates and space shortages also tend to compound the problems for supply chain solutions providers. But here again Agility placed itself in an enviable position and is well-equipped to respond positively to these issues facing the industry.”
The company plans a two-pronged strategy which includes leveraging the tonnage it controls to assist its project clients in meeting construction deadlines and entering into key agreements with key carriers to guarantee space availability.
