Alba sold more than 882,000 tonnes of aluminium metal in 2006, creating a record for itself, a senior official said.

That figure was made up from the record production of 872,338 tonnes (more than the targeted figure of 851,271 tonnes) and inventory metal of 10,000 tonnes, said the company’s marketing general manager Mussaed Eid.
The total sales figure marks an increase of 204,067 tonnes over the previous year’s total sales which stood at 679,180, said Eid.
“It is certainly a dramatic improvement and an achievement we can be proud of,” he remarked.
The 2006 metal sales included significant increases in value-added sales such as billets (up from 242,808 tonnes in 2005 to 339,473 tonnes in 2006) and ingots (up from 117,861 tonnes in 2005 to 178,648 tonnes), said Eid.
Hot metal, which is supplied to support Bahrain’s downstream aluminium industries, also increased from 120,228 tonnes in 2005 to 173,057 tonnes in 2006, according to the official.
