A planned free zone at Abu Dhabi International Airport will offer investors an impressive package of world-class facilities and services.

The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac), which is constructing the free zone, said its creation was part of the large-scale economic development going on in the UAE’s capital.
The enclave, which will cover a built-up area of more than 7 million sq m, will offer investors an “impressive package of world-class facilities and services,” an Adac spokesman said.
“Clusters of amenities will be brought under one roof and all the required facilities will be conveniently integrated to ensure that investors receive the best service,” he added.
Adac chairman and managing director Khalifa Al Mazrouei said the creation of a free zone marked a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s plans to establish itself as a dynamic business centre. “The free zone will take advantage of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s strategic geographical position on the crossroads between East and West, and the large-scale economic development of the emirate,” Al Mazrouei said.
The official observed that the free zone would ensure that Abu Dhabi International Airport became a thriving cargo and business hub and fulfilled the goal of increasing non-aeronautical revenues.
Adac was incorporated in March 2006 to spearhead a major redevelopment of the Emirate’s aviation infrastructure. Its creation was part of an ambitious restructuring initiative launched by the Government of Abu Dhabi and aimed at delivering better services to support the emirate’s long-term economic and tourism strategies and help build a more vibrant economy that attracted and promoted private sector investment.
The airport expansion will allow passenger traffic to grow beyond 40 million per year from the current seven million, while cargo capacity will be boosted from 150,000 tonnes per year at present to two million tonnes. The project includes construction of a second runway, two new terminals, a state-of-the-art air traffic control complex and expansion of cargo facilities.
