With two successful shows in 2002 and 2003, the now biennially held Gulf Traffic is building on those successes, and will deliver what will be the largest and most comprehensive traffic and transportation event the region has ever seen.
The event will be held from 12 to 14 December in Dubai World Trade Centre
“Growing in size by over 120 per cent since 2003, the growth of the Gulf Traffic event mirrors that of the industry itself in the region,” said project director Davyd Farrell. “For any of those of you familiar with traffic problems in Middle Eastern cities you will be aware of the inherent problems that rapid population growth causes; congestion, pollution, accidents, fatalities.”
Attracting around 250 participating companies from both the international and local markets, the Gulf Traffic exhibition will showcase the latest in technology and services available to the traffic industry. The event will provide a platform for those companies to demonstrate to an eager and inquisitive audience in what is being billed as the regions premier traffic forum. Not only will the exhibition stimulate discussion in how best to combat the regions traffic problems but it will also focus on several new key areas within the industry itself. The new areas will take the form of specially designated zones. These are as follows:
Parking Zone – already attracting much interest from European suppliers the parking zone will feature products such as access control barriers, mobile ticketing, pay and display and car park operating systems.
Gulf Highways – dedicated to highway construction and maintenance, this area will look at how important the contracting and maintenance side of the industry is. Products featured will include road-marking equipment, road construction equipment, land surveying
Street Zone – with so many highways and roads being constructed there is an ever-increasing need for roadside furniture and equipment. Those featured in the event will include street lighting, bus shelters, outdoor advertising, fencing, landscaping products
GIS Zone – introduced to complete the circle at the event from the planning stage through to the implementation and completion. Geographical Information Systems are a key part in transportation p lanning. Companies with the following products will participate in this zone: GPS equipment, Fleet Management systems, location based services, Mobile Data solutions, Satellite Imaging.
Government Zone – this specially enclosed area will feature booths where the regions government traffic authorities will showcase their latest projects. There will also be a presentation area where government officials will present future developments and projects.
Running alongside the exhibition is a high-level 3-day conference that will attract all of the region’s senior-officials and decision-makers. The conference will also divide into streams looking at issues such as road safety, GIS & traffic planning, parking and ITS.
Gulf Traffic will be working in partnership with the United Nations – ESCWA and the Arab Road Safety Organisation who are both key partners for the event. Dubai Municipality is the chief event sponsor with the UAE Ministry of Interior being the key government sponsor.
Leading consultants Wilbur Smith are gold sponsors with industry leaders 3M and Avery Dennison as silver sponsors.
