

Danube Building Materials inaugurated its new showroom and warehouse in Jeddah as it prepared to open a manufacturing facility in Dubai Techno Park. The new showroom measures in at 5,000 sq ft while the warehouse, which is also the company’s first completely covered storage facility, has an area of 150,000 sq ft. The new showroom will feature a wide range of building materials that include plywood, timber, medium-density fibre boards, steel, sanitary products, hardware, gypsum tiles and boards, laminates, doors, wall panels, flooring, veneer and aluminum composite panels. The Dh50 million ($13.3 million) facilities, formally opened by Ahmad Hamza Awadh, director, Jeddah Municipality, are built close to wood joineries and steel and aluminum fabricators. Rizwan Sajan, chairman of the company, was present at the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, the company’s manufacturing complex is set for an opening in mid-2011. The plant, costing Dh50 million is spread across 1.3 million sq ft in Dubai Techno Park. The upcoming Danube complex comprises seven specialised manufacturing facilities and a warehouse to store a range of structural steel and wood products. The manufacturing facilities include a melamine MDF pressing plant; an impregnation and décor plyline facility; a gypsum tile cutting plant; a gypsum ceiling tile manufacturing plant; a gypsum board stud and track plant; a glass tempering and polishing plant; and a plant to make aluminium profiles.
