The UAE emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi as well as the government of Oman will each take a 25 per cent stake in the proposed $2.5 billion aluminium plant to be built in the northern Omani city of Sohar, a UAE official said.

A Japanese firm will also take a stake in the firm, the Al Khaleej newspaper reported.
