Sigma Paints’ nanotechnology innovation Sigma Guardian was introduced to Bahrain at a launch ceremony held at Crown Plaza Hotel in the first half of March.

“As the first company in the world to promote water-based technology and environment-friendly paints, and the first in the world to formulate a solvent-free range of products, Sigma Paints once again takes centre stage as the world pioneer in the introduction of the nanometric painting system (NPS) or NPS technology which was first registered in Europe in 2006,” the company said in a Bahrain launch statement.

Sigma Guardian was launched with great fanfare in Saudi Arabia last year.

“The most unique quality of the Sigma Guardian Nano Paint is its unique anti-dust and anti-sand characteristic … The dust-free property is made possible by a superior smooth outer layer created by using a unique nanometric process that employs tiny particles called “nano” to fill up the holes in paint film surfaces. This provides a surface that is highly resistant to dust and sand,” the company explained.

Steven Rijkaard, brand manager for Sigma Middle East, said: “The meteoric power of nanotechnology now provides us with the universal exterior protection and surface radiance we desire for our homes, properties and buildings.”

Highlighting other benefits, Rijkaard said it was   alkali   resistant, provided anti carbonation, retained colour for a much longer time than normal coating, had anti-moisture properties, and was resistant to UV radiation and the effects of efflorescence.

Elie Salameh, manager of Skyline Trading Corporation, Bahrain, said Sigma had supplied paints for some of the most prestigious projects in Bahrain including Durrat Al Bahrain, Bahrain University, Lulu Towers and ERA Towers.

Also present at the launch were Sigma ME officials Mike Murphy, decorative technical support (DTS) manager, Yanal Shekem, business development manager-exports, general sales manager Hossam Soliman and general manager Mark Van Demer.
