
A global business unit of Dow is partnering Saudi Arabia’s EA Juffali & Brothers to build a polyol blends plant.
Construction of the new Dow Formulated Systems-Juffali plant is planned for 2010 in Jeddah, a statement said.
“This alliance reinforces Dow Formulated Systems’ commitment to our customers and the industries we serve in the Middle East,” said Juan Antonio Merino, general manager of Dow Formulated Systems.
“Our longstanding business relationship with EA Juffali & Brothers has offered the conditions for this significant step ahead that further accelerates the implementation of our global business strategy based on our unique, wide and detailed presence, market knowledge and customers intimacy.”
Dow Formulated Systems is the new global business unit of Dow that combines the company’s polyurethane and epoxy systems’ capabilities, potential in research and development, technical service and tailored production serving its growing customer base with a global network of 30 system houses.
“We have been partnering with Dow in a variety of businesses since 1976, and this important alliance allows us to further strengthen our relationship, increasing our ability to sustain the dynamic growth of our customers in this region,” said Dr Souahil El Farouki, general manager of Juffali Chemical Group.
Fulfilling aspirations
“By investing in a new dedicated manufacturing plant in Jeddah, we ultimately strive to facilitate our loyal customers’ success in their respective markets, anticipating their needs and helping them fulfill their aspirations,” said El Farouki.
“The planned facility will produce Dow formulated polyols and the respective Dow polyurethane systems will be marketed in the region. The alliance with Dow is instrumental to ensuring the new plant’s competitiveness, sustainability and long term success.”
Dow has two joint ventures with Juffali & Brothers under the banner of Arabian Chemical Company Ltd for manufacturing Styrofoam band insulation in Jeddah and latex in Jubail.
