Savola holds talks with UK group

Saudi-based Savola Group is in talks to buy British sugar refiner and sweetener group Tate and Lyle's stakes in sugar refineries in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, a Savola executive said, according to Reuters.
The talks are about Tate & Lyle's 10 per cent stake in a 1.2 million tonnes per year sugar refinery in Saudi Arabia and a 3 per cent stake in a 750,000 tonnes per year sugar refinery in Egypt.

 

CPC to supply big project

Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) will supply construction materials to the King Abdulaziz Endowment project in Makkah, which consists of the tallest building in Saudi Arabia.
The landmark construction project, consisting of seven massive towers, will involve CPC's subsidiaries - Premco Precast Concrete Company and the United Arab Aluminum Company.
The tallest tower in the complex is Tower (H), which will be 591 m high. The project is also the largest in terms of area, estimated at 1.5 million sq m.

 

Transguard acquires MACAir 

Transguard Group, an Emirates Group company, has acquired MACAir, a leading Dubai-based mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractor.
Transguard Group CEO Dr Abdulla Al Hashimi said MacAir's MEP maintenance capability completed the group's facilities management (FM) service offering.

 

Foster Wheeler firm wins deal

Foster Wheeler has announced that its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a process design contract by Sete Energy Saudia for Industrial Projects for the expansion of an industrial wastewater treatment plant in Saudi Arabia.
The plant is owned by Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail & Yanbu (Marafiq), the authority responsible for providing power generation, water supply and treatment utilities for the industrial complexes of Jubail and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia. Sete Energy is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for this project.

 

Tamkeen holds training talks

Tamkeeen, an organisation that seeks to raise the skills of Bahrainis to help them get employment, held talks with the Bahrain board of the Project Management Institute's Arabian Gulf chapter (PMI-AGC) on training initiatives.
Tamkeen said project management companies would be able to upgrade employee skills by utilising its career progression scheme under which it covered training costs.
