Kristensen: good reasons for selecting Jotun

Jotun Paints says it has supplied over 3 million litres of paint for the first phase of Dubai Metro's Red Line, which commenced operations recently.

Under the terms of the contract awarded to Jotun Paints, the company has still to deliver its paints and coatings for remaining sections within the Red Line and the entire Green Line.

The paints used for the first mass rapid transport system in the region include floor coating (Jotafloor), steel protection (Penguard and Hardtop), fire protection (Steelmaster), interior emulsion (Fenomastic) and exterior protection (Jotashield Tex Ultra).

Approximately 1.7 million litres of protective coatings and 1.4 million litres of decorative paints were used within the newly opened train system.

"The involvement of Jotun Paints in this landmark project is another feather in our cap, as we have once again been a part of a pioneering project that further elevates Dubai's status as one of the most progressive global economies," said Eirik Kristensen, the company's marketing manager for the Mena region. "We believe that our products have been chosen because they fulfilled the quality, technical and aesthetic specifications and conform to the highest international standards."

The company stressed that its decorative and protective coatings could withstand extreme levels of UV light, various levels of humidity and corrosion, high and low ambient temperatures and other environmental pollutants.

Jotun established its presence in the Middle East in 1974 with Jotun UAE Ltd.  Since then, it has expanded rapidly throughout the region investing in state-of-the-art factories including the recently opened plant in Dubai's Al Quoz area, the biggest worldwide for Jotun and the Middle East.
