Construction of the UAE's largest indoor auditorium, capable of housing 5,700 spectators, has been completed in Abu Dhabi.
Multipurpose Hall 12, built by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, has an area of 7,920 sq m and will be used for a host of events including sports, concerts, exhibitions and weddings.
The installation of a fully automated retractable tiered seating system makes Hall 12 one of the most flexible event spaces in the world.
At the touch of a button the tiered seating system unfolds 23 rows of high specification seating finished with black fabric and ice-birch veneer. Additional acoustic panels, moveable partitions, matching tiered mobile units and flat floor VVIP, VIP and multi-use seats complete the venue.
Commenting on the completion of Hall 12, Ali Saeed Bin Harmal, managing director of Adnec, said: "The transformation of Hall 12 is a special date for Adnec and for Abu Dhabi. The capital now boasts the country's largest indoor events auditorium and we look forward to the exciting range of events which we will host in the future. This is a big milestone in the short history of Adnec as we have hugely expanded the scope of the live events we are capable of staging."
Shigeyuki Fukasawa, chairman and CEO of Kotobuki, the company which supplied the custom-designed system, handed over the hall to Adnec.
Adnec is the Gulf's largest exhibition centre with 73,000 sq m of live event space; it stages over 100 live events every year and welcomes over 1.8 million people annually.
