The UAE’s Mohebi Investments has launched Mohebi Logistics, a Dh 1 billion ($272 million) initiative aimed at creating the Middle East’s biggest logistics facilities.
As part of the massive investment envisaged under this ambitious initiative, Mohebi Logistics is setting up a state-of-the-art regional logistics hub spread over an area of over 51,000 sq m in Jebel Ali Free Zone (South). This multi-temperature investment facility will be operational by the end of December.
“Our aim is to become one of the most admired and dynamic supply chain management companies in the Middle East and set a benchmark in the region for the provision of total world-class solutions in the retail and FMCG logistics sector,” says Mohammed Mohebi, chairman and CEO of Mohebi Investments and CEO of Mohebi Logistics.
Mohebi Investments says it wants to bring a new approach to customer-centric, vertically integrated supply chain solutions. From an initial outlay of Dh200 million for infrastructure development, Mohebi Logistics plans to make significant investments across the region over the next five years.
“By 2012 we will have established a network of warehousing and transport facilities to cover the Middle East, and anticipate expansion into Africa, south-west and south-east Asia in the medium term” says Ben Jacob, executive director and chief financial officer, Mohebi Logistics.
“As an affiliate of the UAE-based Zainal Mohebi Group, we can extend a wider range of support services than traditional 3PL organisations. Tailored solutions are available to a broad selection of corporate businesses, including sales and marketing, IT, travel industry and human resources.”
The company says its core services include demand management, ordering, freight management, warehousing, kitting, labeling, packaging, sales order processing, distribution, returns management, warranty management and customs payments. All these services will be provided via its regional logistics centre located within Jafz and its regional and international partner network.
The key features of its logistics services and facilities include – modern warehouse facilities incorporating temperature-controlled storage handling and dock areas; accreditation to HACCP and ISO standards. The Tapa-compliant facility will include temperature-controlled and ambient storage and docking areas which are equipped with storage solutions from SSI Schaefer, material handling equipment from Toyota and warehouse management system from Infor WM (formally Exceed). The company has also invested in wireless handheld and truck-mounted technology to support both barcode and RFID methodologies.
