Winners of the Emirates Energy Awards at the presentation ceremony

Avireal ME, Dubal and Dewa are among the winners of the Emirates Energy Awards instituted by the Dubai Quality Group (DQG), a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising the general performance level of the local business environment.

At a ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 12 individuals and organisations were presented with the awards by Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, UAE Minister for Culture, Youth and Community Development, who acted on behalf of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
“The Emirates Energy Awards have been a great success and a source of inspiration for others to contribute to the energy conservation movement,” said Marwan Al Sawaleh, chairman of Dubai Quality Group.
He praised the winners for selflessly sharing their knowledge and expertise and said they represented “added value” to the government’s efforts in the field of energy management.
“We hope that by honouring effective energy practices, we will be able to motivate more individuals and institutions to adopt similar energy-conservation systems,” Al Sawaleh added.
Launched by DQG under the patronage of the Ruler of Dubai, the awards are granted in the following categories:  Private Corporation, Energy Engineer, Major Energy Project, Minor Energy Project and Education & Research.
Avireal Middle East won the Education & Research Award with Dubal as the runner-up. Dewa was the winner of the Major Energy Project Award with Dubai World as runner-up.
Winners of the Energy Engineer Award were Dr Luai Mohammed Al Hadhrami of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Sougata Nandi of Tecom Investments, Sami Awad Ibrahim of Dubai Properties and Amal Koshak of Dewa.

The Dubai Quality Group was set up in 1994 as a non-profit business organisation by the Department of Economic Development under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
