In a strategic initiative that will develop better understanding and cooperation between the booming jewellery industries of Dubai and China, the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) has been invited by the Chamber of Commerce for Jewellery & Precious Metals Industry (CCJP), China, to be their honorary consultants for the region.

KP Baiju, general manager of DGJG, and Amit Dhamani, its director, will lead the consultancy services aimed at establishing strong business relationships between regional jewellery companies and their counterparts in China.
“China’s jewellery industry is growing at an amazing pace with a growth rate of over 10 per cent and an annual sales volume exceeding $10 billion,” said Tawhid Abdullah, managing director, DGJG.
“Our association with CCJP will offer a better platform in exploring business opportunities between Dubai and China. This is a fantastic chance and I am proud to say two of our key members, Baiju and Dhamani, will lead the project. Their elaborate experience in the local and international industry will benefit members of both organisations,” he added.
The CCJP, coming under the All-China Federation of Industry & Commercem, was established in 1995 to serve the interests of the Chinese jewellery sector.
There are over 10,000 manufacturers and processing enterprises for gold, silver and jewellery in China. The government is supporting the development of the sector through a range of policies and measures for lowering the import of levies and consumption tax, and opening up the precious metals market of gold and silver.
CCJP president Wan Zikun commented: “With the continuous improvement in the development of these industries, the Chinese gold, silver and jewellery industry will maintain a healthy, sustainable and stable development. We are always ready to establish extensive affiliation with organisations like the DGJG to further enhance the growth of the industry. Dubai is one of the world’s leading hubs for the jewellery industry and we look forward to working more closely with them.”
Baiju has spearheaded various initiatives to promote Dubai’s jewellery business internationally and establish relationships between Dubai and other strategic markets. He is also currently in the process of extending his services to the industry at large by introducing a unique consulting group that will offer one-stop-shop solutions from manufacturing to marketing. He has been invited under this capacity to represent CCJP.
Dhamani’s knowledge of the regional market is rooted in his years of experience as a leading jewellery retailer and his close association with DGJG to promote the interests of Dubai’s jewellery industry on a regional and international level. Apart from his directorial role at DGJG, Dhamani also serves as the managing director of Dubai-based Dhamani Jewels.
