Abu-Dhabi-based Atlas Telecoms plans to set up a Dh130 million ($35.4 million) high-tech complex at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).

DSO is a purpose-built technology park for microelectronics and semiconductors and Atlas Telecoms is a leader in telecommunication technology and security solutions.
The complex, which is expected to be completed within the final quarter of 2008, includes an advanced system integration service centre in charge of repairing, maintaining, and upgrading; an assembly centre for tetra modems and electronics; a command control centre and a customer training centre responsible for educating Atlas’ customers on their services and products.
Praising the move, Dr Mohammed Al Zarouni, vice chairman and chief executive officer of the DSO Authority, said: “This initiative is yet another testimonial on DSO’s success in bringing international technology entities closer to local technology companies thus facilitating the transfer of technology and know-how into the UAE in general and the emirate Dubai in particular.”
Ahmed Seddiq Al Mutawaa, president of Atlas Telecoms, commented: “The reason behind our choice of establishing our complex within Dubai Silicon Oasis is largely due to the advanced infrastructure combined with its efficient customer-focused services. Furthermore, the technology-oriented environment accompanied with the integrated community concept developed within the Silicon Oasis makes it a prestigious address for not only local technology companies but also for regional and international technology entities.”
Dubai Silicon Oasis, an entity fully owned by the Government of Dubai, is a free zone, strategically placed on the Emirates road.
