Saudi Readymix, a leading producer and supplier of ready-mixed concrete and related products in Saudi Arabia, sponsored the kingdom’s first workshop on “Concrete Deterioration and Prevention”, organised by the Centre for Engineering Research at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
The workshop acted as a forum for local industry and research organisations to discuss the recurring problems of concrete durability in the Middle East, and the advances in repair and rehabilitation methodologies.
Saudi Readymix’s technical director Willfried Krieg presented his findings on the “Characteristics & Durability of High Performance Concrete.”
“The topic of the workshop is particularly pertinent given the region’s boom in large-scale industrial development and real estate projects requiring large quantities of concrete,” commented Krieg. “We are grateful to KFUPM for having arranged and hosted such a forum for industry professionals to share best practices, and are happy to have had the opportunity to lend our support.
“Saudi Readymix is in the process of increasing capacity and coverage with an investment of over SR320 million ($85.3 million), and thus it is crucial we are at the top of our game regarding the longevity of our product.”
