Two reactors fabricated by Adyard
Adyard Abu Dhabi (Adyard), which over the years has been serving the needs of the oil and gas, petrochemical, power, utilities and marine sectors, particularly in the Middle East, says 2005 was a turning point for the company in terms of growth and diversification.
The company’s turnover last year reached Dh118.5 million ($32.2 million), for the first time crossing the Dh100 million mark since its inception in 1996.
The company was also awarded prestigious orders from international companies as well as from local Adnoc Group establishments. These included the fabrication of 37 pressure vessels from Petrofac International, Sharjah, and a construction package awarded by Larsen & Toubro, India for the Gasco-Bu Hasa (Abu Dhabi) facilities upgrade project involving mechanical, civil, engineering equipment erection. The two orders enabled Adyard to continue its diversification into a major fabrication and construction contractor for the oil and gas industry, both onshore and offshore, in the Middle East.
This year started on a promising note for Adyard, the company having won a major order from Veolia Water Systems Westgarth, UK for the fabrication of a chemical injection module and a water injection module for the Golfinho-II FPSO (floating production storage and offloading platform) project.
This was a major leap for Adyard towards penetration into the offshore structural fabrication market. It also secured an order from Fluor Mideast, UK for the fabrication of 49 pressure vessels for the Gasco-Habshan (Abu Dhabi) capacity expansion project. It was a break-through for Adyard to associate with the Adnoc group company. Adyard’s success story continued with a contract from Atlantis Holding Norway AS for the fabrication of jacket, piles and deck for the Umm Al Quwain offshore field development project.
The company is also fabricating six Cold Bed Absorption (CBA) reactors and three Claus Reactors for the Jamnagar refinery of Reliance Petroleum, India, following a contract from Black & Veatch, US.
In line with its growth prospects, Adyard is in the process of expanding its fabrication facilities by signing long-term lease agreements and acquiring a new plant and equipment to foster business in the region. The centralised facilities of Adyard help the company to offer one-stop shop solutions to its local and international clients.
The company’s 80,000 sq m waterfront facility is located in the industrial city of Mussafah, near Abu Dhabi.
Adyard, a group company of Renaissance Services SAOG, Oman, and Topaz Energy and Marine Limited of the UAE, is one of the UAE’s leading oil and gas services companies, specialising in engineering, fabrication, onshore and offshore projects.
Set up in 1996, Adyard has six main areas of activities:
One area relates to the fabrication of pressure vessels, process plant and systems, process modules and skids.
Another relates to structural steel fabrication, modular steel construction, fabrication of equipment skids, offshore structures, decks and jackets, calm buoys, pipe work and spool pieces.
Work in the third area is about drill rig repair, refurbishment, modification and construction.
The fourth area concerns ship repair – afloat and dry dock.
The fifth area relates to operations support and maintenance, installation, hook-up and commissioning, onshore and offshore construction and cross-country piping.
The sixth area comprises electrical refurbishment and maintenance, valves refurbishment and maintenance, instrument calibration, machining and workshop maintenance.
Its engineering practices are in accordance with internationally recognised standards such as ASME SEC I, II, VIII, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, BS 5500, BS 5950, NACE, ANSI, API 1104, API RP2A.
The engineering department is fully manned and equipped to carry out the detailed design and engineering of pressure vessels, offshore structures and structural and piping fabrication. Some of the most advanced engineering packages are used in design and drafting such as PV Elite, Stadd Pro, Cadworx, Tubecam, Autocad 2000i and Microstation.
Adyard’s fabrication yard located on an 80,000 sq m functional area has a 300 m waterfront and a 110 m jetty with 6.5 m water depth. The jetty is reinforced to accommodate cranes for loadout and repair of drilling rigs.
