The USR8105631: faster upload speeds

US Robotics, a leader in network access delivering has launched the USR8105631 in the Middle East.

This latest analogue 56 k fax modem allows the user to receive telephone calls while still connected to the Internet as well as screen those calls.
The all-new USR8105631 provides the user with faster upload speeds to improve online gaming, accelerate uploads of digital photos and speed up sending large attachments through email. This fast-paced modem is loaded with features to fulfill the needs of the younger, tech-savvy computer user.
“There are a host of features which make the USR8105631 ideal for Internet, fax and data usage,” said Tony Field, product-marketing manager, US Robotics EMEA.
“A new integrated hardware design reduces costs while incorporating the latest technology benefits and data/fax speeds up to 56 kbps. Created while keeping the younger user in mind, the modem has a sleek design and is available in a ‘cool blue’ colour with detachable feet, allowing the user to change the modem’s orientation as preferred.”
The USR8105631 utilises the serial interface of the PC, which allows the modem to maintain the highest possible operating speed. Additional technological upgrades such as ‘quick connect’ allow the user to connect to the Internet faster and support by the latest V.92 standard and V.90 standard allow for a wider choice of service providers.
The new product is compatible with Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4.0, 2000, XP and other operating systems that support an RS-32 port.
In another development, US Robotics announced it had been accepted into the Xerox alliance partner programme in Europe.  The company now provides users of Xerox products in Europe with solutions designed to provide an entire workforce with wireless access to networked devices.
“We have worked to support Xerox and ensure their products’ seamless integration with ours,” says Peter Blampied, US Robotics’ director, EMEA sales and operations.  “This designation as an Alliance Partner further cements our commitment to providing solutions for users worldwide.”
Initially developed in Italy by US Robotics’ country manager Maurizio Negri, the solution allows an entire workforce to connect to printers, faxes and scanners through a wireless network designed around the USR5450 802.11g Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point.  The access point, connected directly to the router providing Internet access, can transmit its signal throughout large offices, providing wireless users with access to all networked devices.  The solution was first implemented at MC Informatica, a company that specialises in the design, creation and development of advanced integrated systems for medium and large companies.
Individual workstations are connected to the wireless network through PC Cards, PCI adapters and other wireless adapters such as the USR5410 802.11g Wireless Turbo PC Card and the USR5416 802.11g Wireless Turbo PCI Adapter.
