India-based Electromech Engineers, which conducts its Middle East operations from its regional headquarters in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, plans to tie up with local companies for its fabrication requirements in Dubai, a company official says.
Export manager Nikhil Deshpande said notwithstanding the tie-up, all main components of the equipment would be imported from India where it has been operating since 1979.
Electromech Engineers manufactures customised material-handling equipment with special emphasis on cranes and hoists. It has sold in the Middle East EOT cranes, gantry cranes and customised material-handling systems, all of which are designed as per BS/FEM or equivalent design standards. Its Middle East agent is Metrovol FZE.
“Our customer base in the UAE is around 45-50, including steel-trading firms, maintenance workshops, oil fields supply companies, plastic companies equipped with tool rooms and marble and pipe-handling companies to name a few,” said Deshpande.
He characterised the Middle East as a “priority market” for Electromech. The company started exporting to this region around three to four years ago and Deshpande says the market has been growing for the company ever since.
“We have around 100 installations in this region. Last year our sales increased by 40 to 50 per cent over 2003. This year we hope to increase sales by 70 to 80 per cent.”
Electromech has sold cranes up to 40 tonnes and spans up to 30 m in this region but has the capability to design cranes up to 300 tonnes SWL or more.
Besides the UAE, Electromech exports to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Kenya.
Electromech launched its new series of electric wire rope hoists at the recently concluded materials-handling show in Dubai.
“The new EM Series is available in monorail and top-running double-girder models and provides a price/performance ratio that compares favourably with the best industry has to offer,” Deshpande says.
Standard features include: modular construction with optimally matched components, space-saving, future-oriented design; two lifting speeds with a 6:1 speed ratio; two trolley speeds with a 4:1 speed ratio; TEFC motors designed for smooth crane service; lifetime lubricated bearings and gear reducers; modern helical gear trolley drive; DC-rectified brakes with a minimum of one million maintenance-free operations; two upper and one lower precision limit switches; overload limit (optional) for safe operation and extended hoist life, heavy-duty wear-resistant rope guide and heavy duty bottom block with safety latch and hardened sheaves.
Deshpande says the market response has been good.
“Electromech has a strong tradition of innovations and is constantly engaged in upgrading its products to match current world standards,” stresses the official. “Our product range is such that a client from any industry can easily find handling equipment that satisfies his lifting and moving needs.”
In the region it offers after-sales service though Metrovol and accepts annual maintenance contracts.
